Time to hit the great outdoors and celebrate the season. Festivals abound this time of year and it’s a time to enjoy the spirits or a cold brew. Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo hosts the 19th annual WaZoo Beer Fest presented by J.J. Taylor Distributing Florida, Inc. on Saturday, August 2. The festival will feature 275 beers and beverages from around the world, food samplings from local restaurants and live music on multiple stages throughout the Zoo. For those wanting the VIP experience, The Beastly Beverage Club, will offer air-conditioning in the Safari Lodge. WaZoo happens rain or shine. Tickets start at $55. For more information, visit www.LowryParkZoo.com.

In honor of National Rum Day, Big City Events will host the 2nd Annual Summer of Rum Festival on Saturday, August 16 at The Cuban Club in Ybor City. Enjoy a Caribbean Island Party complete with Rum Shacks, Street Entertainment, and Reggae-Island music. “The Cuban Club is the perfect place to hold this event due to our ability to make this into an indoor/outdoor event, where attendees can cool off inside when it gets too hot,” said Monica Varner, partner at Big City Events. There will be plenty of island inspired food vendors too. Plan to gather friends, grab a Red Stripe or a rum punch and settle into summer. General Admission tickets start at $15 and VIP tickets start at $75. For more information, visit www.SummerofRumFest.com.
