“Bern’s: Rare & Well Done”

The Bern’s legacy continues to be honored with the latest release of a new cookbook, Bern’s: Rare & Well Done, by David & Christina Laxer. Written in collaboration with Chris Sherman, former local food critic for the Tampa Bay Times, the book provides a look into the history of Bern’s with black and white family photos and images of the restaurants metal shop, roasting facility and sewing room.

Divided into two sections of recipes, there are traditional dishes of appetizers, sides and entrees from Bern’s, as well as, more modern dishes that showcase the expanded offerings at Haven, the latest wine bar and restaurant that opened in early 2015. There are plenty of stories explaining the history of the famed, award-winning Steak House that opened in 1956, along with the newest family ventures of the Epicurean Hotel. As part of Tampa’s dining legacy, the cookbook will make a wonderful gift for the holiday season.

Bern’s: Rare & Well Done is available at the restaurants, Bern’s Fine Wines & Spirits and the Oxford Exchange for $50.
