Redesigned. Renamed. Refined.
The wind is blowing, the sun is shining and it’s a perfect day in Tampa Bay to test drive the brand new, two-seat convertible 718 Boxster from Porsche of Tampa. Redesigned and newly renamed, the new 718 Boxster is ready to hit the streets around town. The Boxster originally debuted 15 years ago and designers and engineers have made significant improvements on the third generation of Porsche’s entry-level model.
The exterior of the Boxster has been redesigned with precise lines, sharply defined from the fenders to the rear. The rear spoiler serves both form and function. The spoiler deploys automatically to reduce lift and retracts to a seamless transition to the LED taillights. Front and rear parking sensors, wind deflector, water-repellent side windows and hill-hold break functions are standard features.
The interior offers uncluttered and defined design and the seat cocoons the driver with easy access to all the instrument panels. Standard options include cruise control, AC, manual tilt and telescoping steering wheel, partial leather with six-way adjustable seats, universal garage door opener, review camera, Bluetooth and six-speaker audio system with built-in satellite and HD radio. As with many Porsche models, the car can be completely customized with numerous add-ons.
The power-folding soft top can easily be lowered in less than nine seconds with the engine running. In case of rain, the top can be raised while going up to a speed of 31 mph.
The Boxster’s mid-engine, common in most race cars, boasts a choice of two four-cylinder turbocharged engines, 300 hp Boxster standard and the 350 hp Boxster S, that are more powerful and fuel efficient than the previous Boxster’s six-cylinder engines. M
