Bern's Winefest 21 Grand Tasting in South Tampa, Florida

Bern’s Winefest No. 21 VIP & Grand Tasting

When: Sunday, April 22, 2018
Where: Haven, South Tampa

Grand Tasting tickets sell-out quickly and are one of the most sought-after tickets during the week-long Bern’s Winefest. There are few wine tasting events in the Southeast that can rival the quality of food and wine that is presented at Bern’s VIP & Grand Tasting. And year No. 21 was no exception.

The sold-out VIP & Grand Tasting offered a rare opportunity to taste more than 200 top-rated wines paired with culinary delights from Bern’s Steak House, Haven, and the Epicurean Hotel outlets, Élevage and EDGE. It was the perfect way to spend a spring afternoon. VIP guests were welcomed into the Grand Tasting with a crisp glass of Dom Perignon paired with select caviar for a delightful entrance. One of the favorites was a Grilled Cheese with beef tongue.

It is said that some could live on wine and cheese alone and the Grand Tasting delivers a spectacular selection of cheeses in the Lounge du Fromage. Chocolate Pi Patisserie out did themselves with a selection of truffles, macaroons and other sweet delights. Inspired by Bern’s Dessert Room, the main entrance to the Grand Tasting had an elevated grand piano with Kenny playing. Above the piano was a disco pig that spun around and reflected throughout the room.

The highlight of the Grand Tasting was the band Electric Avenue, that got the dance floor packed with their high energy 80s music and performance. There was literally no more room and it was a fun way to wrap up Winefest.

Guests also bid at the Winefest Silent Auction on wines donated by wineries from all over the world. Proceeds from the auction benefited the Bern Laxer Scholarship Fund. The fund awards a $10,000 scholarship each year, through the James Beard Foundation to assist students who are interested in a career in culinary, hospitality management or viticulture.
