blankThe Raymond James Gasparilla Festival of the Arts (GFA) is celebrating its 50th Anniversary taking place this weekend, February 29 – March 1, in the new Julian B. Lane Riverfront Park. Moving to Julian B. Lane Park, at 1001 N. Boulevard in Tampa, will allow the juried outdoor festival to add and expand activities as part of its 50th anniversary celebration. It will also improve accessibility and convenience for artists showcasing and selling their work.

Julian B. Lane Riverfront Park provides additional space for festival activities and amenities, including more food and drink vendors, expanded musical and performing arts entertainment, shaded seating options, and larger playground areas. It will also include designated areas for ride-sharing, water taxis, and bicycle parking, and the park allows for on-site and nearby parking and additional alternative transportation options.

blankIn addition to many children’s activities and expanded food and drink options, the 50th Anniversary festival will feature an impressive entertainment line-up with Denis Phillips, ABC Action News Chief Meteorologist, serving as Master of Ceremonies.

Options for getting around this weekend:

Park once and spend the day. The festival will offer four FREE continuous shuttles running between Julian B. Lane Riverfront Park and Downtown parking garages throughout the weekend. Pickup locations are at Poe Garage at Gasparilla Plaza. Visitors can park at adjacent locations such as Rivergate Tower and walk to Gasparilla Plaza to catch the free shuttle.

Take the scenic route on the Hillsborough River. Festival organizers have partnered with Pirate Water Taxi for a discounted water taxi service on a dedicated route from stop #15 at Julian B. Lane Park to stop #10 at MacDill Park adjacent to the Ft. Brooke Parking Garage. Look for Gasparilla Festival of the Arts signage on the dedicated water taxi.

Visitors can take advantage of the beautiful weather this weekend by riding their bicycles to the Festival. FREE ad secure bike valet parking will be provided on-site courtesy of Two Wheel Valet and the Tampa Downtown Partnership.

The new park location offers patrons a safe, designated ride share drop-off location along N Boulevard. The festival has partnered with Uber, offering guests 20% off Uber rides. Use discount code GFA20.

Purchasing a large piece of art? Patrons can now take advantage of a close and easy designated art buyer pick-up area at the south end of Julian B. Lane Park. Follow signage to pull into the designated area to pick up your new masterpiece. Loading and un-loading only, no long-term parking allowed.

In keeping with its reputation as one of the nation’s top outdoor art shows, the festival will continue to feature a diverse collection of artwork from some of the most talented national and international artists. $80,000 in award monies will be awarded by the Festival Juror to the participating artists, including the $15,000 Raymond James Financial Best of Show Award. More than 250 artists and thousands of visitors attend the Festival each year.
