Water Street Tampa’s swank restaurant and bar scene is excited to usher in a new concept arising in early 2024. Alter Ego, a music focused cocktail lounge, “will offer an energetic vibe and proper, soulful hospitality,” said Ferrell Alvarez, chef, partner and co-owner of Proper House Group.
Proper House Group is no stranger to strengthening Tampa’s expanding dining scene. From Rooster & the Till, a recent recipient of Michelin’s Bib Gourmand Award to a variety of Sparkman Wharf restaurant concepts, Proper House Group aims to captivate their patrons. “Alter Ego will boast a curated musical experience alongside a monochromatic design that includes intimate seating as well as social spaces,” according to Alvarez.
The addition of Alter Ego exemplifies what Water Street Tampa is all about! Awarded the Urban Land Institute’s America Award for Excellence 2023, which shines light on public-private partnerships between developers, local government and community leaders. Chef Alvarez passionately states, “We are committed to thoughtfully offering new and diverse experiences within the district for those who live, work and visit us.”
Alter Ego is Proper House Group and Alvarez’s fifth endeavor in the neighborhood, showcasing the strong relationship between the community and restauranteur. Other concepts from Proper House Group in the area include Ash, an Italian-inspired restaurant, Gallito Taqueria, Dang Dude, and Lunch Lady at Sparkman Wharf. Once again proving Tampa is on the culinary and hot-spot map, this upcoming concept is sure to find its groove. M
