Bungalows Key Largo

By Ronda M. Parag

Ready to trade your to-do list for turquoise water and tropical drinks? Just a 6-hour drive from Tampa—or a quick hour from the Miami airport—Bungalows Key Largo is Florida’s only all-inclusive, adults-only resort, and it feels worlds away from reality.

From the moment we arrived, we were swept into vacation mode. A welcome rum punch and warm greeting from the valet team kicked things off, followed by a breezy golf cart tour of the lush, secluded property. With just 135 private bungalows—31 beachfront and the rest nestled in a botanical paradise—it’s intimate, peaceful, and oh-so-pretty.

Each bungalow is designed with a coastal, calming palette of soft neutrals and ocean blues. Inside, a plush king bed, cozy seating area, and spa-like bathroom await. Outside, you’ll find your own tropical oasis with an open-air rain shower, deep soaking tub, and a private patio. There’s even a mini-fridge stocked with cold drinks and a Keurig for morning coffee on the lanai.

With no schedule to keep, we wandered to the Sunset Tiki Bar—home of breezy cocktails like rum runners and piña coladas. On the menu is a casual offering of burgers, salads, pizzas, and tropical juice pops. While everything is included, gratuities are appreciated.

Dining options are varied and delicious. Enjoy relaxed dining all day at Fish Tales, where breakfast and lunch are casual and dinner is a more refined experience with reservations required. We loved the breakfast buffet (hello, self-serve mimosa and Bloody Mary bar!) and fresh seafood-forward dinners, including a standout lobster salad and crab cakes.
Sea Señor brings bold Mexican flavors and romantic vibes under the stars—plus a tempting tequila tasting. And for fine dining, Bogie & Bacall’s delivers an upscale, indulgent experience with dishes like wagyu steak and lobster tail, preceded by artfully crafted cocktails at Hemingway Bar. (Note: guests staying 4+ nights receive one complimentary dinner here; others pay a surcharge.)

During the day, we split our time between the serene Zen Pool, where shaded daybeds and chilled cocktails ruled, and the livelier Sunset Pool, with upbeat music and poolside service. For total pampering, we booked a massage at the Zen Garden Spa, which also features a eucalyptus steam room and Himalayan salt therapy. Couples can even enjoy side-by-side massages in a private tiki hut overlooking Florida Bay.

Wellness lovers will appreciate daily yoga on Tranquility Beach, paddle boarding and kayaking in the calm waters, and a well-equipped Fitness Tiki Hut. Off-site adventures like fishing charters, snorkeling trips, and a romantic sunset cruise are easy to book through the concierge.

We met couples celebrating anniversaries, birthdays, and honeymoons, plus a group of Tampa girlfriends soaking up some sunshine while the dads held down the fort back in Tampa. Whether you’re toasting to something big—or just craving a break—Bungalows Key Largo is the kind of place that invites you to fully unplug.

Saying goodbye wasn’t easy, but we know it’s only a matter of time before we return to this beautiful slice of paradise.  M
