Opal Sands Resort on Clearwater Beach

The views have changed over the years on Clearwater Beach, with many of the smaller mom and pop hotels replaced by luxury, hi-rise resorts. Now, some of the best views are from one of the 230 rooms at Opal Sands. Opened in 2016, the 15-story hotel was designed so that each room has a stunning view of the Gulf of Mexico and private balconies. The curve of the building creates a beautiful exterior and offers unobstructed views up and down Clearwater Beach.

All the paintings and artwork in the hotel were created for the property by local Floridian artists under the direction of Christopher Still, who grew up on Clearwater Beach. All the artwork has been inspired by the words, “Color, reflect and restore,” according to Still.

“The artwork has been inspired by the sun shining on our opalescent beaches and the reflections of color on our Gulf waves,” says Christopher Still.

It is worth a stay to view all the colorful works of talented artists including Carrie Jadus, Duncan McClellan, Mariel Bass and Arnold Ruiz.
